No, as a host you don't have to feel obliged to offer meals or sightseeing tours to your guests. It's more about getting in touch with your guests, e.g. by having a cup of tea with them. Servas travelers are independent people. During the day you can send them off on your own. Of course tips are welcome. We «locals» know our surroundings well. If you have the time and desire, the guests will be happy to have you with them. However, everyone has to bear their own expenses (entrance fees, eating out, tickets, etc.)

No, you are not obliged to accept every guest who asks you. If you are unable to accommodate someone at short notice, help him or her to find another host family. For example, you could call someone in your area and “pass on” the guest, so to speak. In emergencies, please contact our Secretariat.

There is also the option of registering as a day host with Servas. This means that Servas travelers can contact you and you agree to, for example, show them around the city or meet them for a coffee. What exactly you do together and for how long you make yourself available, you discuss directly with each other. Here, too, the principle applies: Everyone pays their own expenses.

When everything is filled out – let the secretary know (incl. "When should the trip start") so that he can send your Activate LoI (i.e. can provide it with a "remote-controlled" brand and "serial number" as well as my email address). Delete all previously downloaded LoI except for the one that was finally unlocked so there is no confusion. Download the LoI with the "Download your letter" button, print it out and take it with you on your journey.
